Conduct of the Virtuous Wife
इति वेदोक्तमृषिभि: पुरस्तात् परिकल्पितम् | इदानीं चैव न: कृत्यं पुरस्ताच्च परिश्रुतम्
iti vedoktam ṛṣibhiḥ purastāt parikalpitam | idānīṃ caiva naḥ kṛtyaṃ purastāc ca pariśrutam ||
«ດັ່ງນີ້ແຫຼະ ບັນດາລິສີໄດ້ວາງໄວ້ແຕ່ບູຮານ ຕາມພຣະວາຈາແຫ່ງເວດະ. ພວກເຮົາກໍໄດ້ຍິນມາແຕ່ດົນນານ; ແລະໃນບັດນີ້ ກໍເປັນໜ້າທີ່ຂອງພວກເຮົາທີ່ຈະປະຕິບັດຕາມຂໍ້ບັງຄັບແຫ່ງເວດະນີ້»។
व्यास उवाच
That dharma is grounded in Vedic injunctions and the ancient seers’ established practice; what has been transmitted and heard from olden times remains binding as present duty.
Vyāsa affirms that a certain rule of conduct being discussed is not novel: it was prescribed long ago by ṛṣis in line with the Veda, is well-known by tradition, and therefore must be followed now as an obligation.
