Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
गणात् क्रोधवशादेष राजपूगो5भवत् क्षितौ | जात: पुरा महाभागो महाकीर्तिमहाबल:
gaṇāt krodhavaśād eṣa rājapūgo 'bhavat kṣitau | jātaḥ purā mahābhāgo mahākīrtimahābalaḥ ||
ໄວສັມປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: “ຈາກຝູງສັດຕະວະທີ່ເອີ້ນວ່າ ກໂຣທະວະສະ (ຜູ້ຖືກຄວາມໂກດຄອບງໍາ) ຝູງກະສັດອັນຫຼາຍນີ້ ເຄີຍເກີດຂຶ້ນເທິງແຜ່ນດິນ. ໃນການກ່ອນໆ ພວກເຂົາເກີດເປັນມະນຸດຜູ້ມີວາສະນາຍິ່ງ—ມີຊື່ສຽງກວ້າງໄກ ແລະມີພະລັງອັນນ່າຢ້ານ.”

Vaiśampāyana describes an ancient origin-story: a large assemblage of kings on earth is said to have arisen from a gaṇa named Krodhavaśa.
