FAQs

This verse does not directly define Ātman; it emphasizes outer and inner purity (śauca) and disciplined timing, which the Kurma Purana treats as preparatory supports for higher knowledge and yogic realization.

It highlights āhnika discipline centered on Sandhyā (twilight worship). In the Kurma Purana’s yogic-dharma framework, regulated conduct, cleanliness, and observance of Sandhyā function as foundational niyama-like supports for steadiness of mind and later contemplative practice.

The verse is primarily a dharma injunction and does not explicitly mention Shiva or Vishnu; however, in the Kurma Purana’s Shaiva-Vaishnava synthesis, such shared ritual discipline (Sandhyā, śauca, āhnika) is presented as common ground supporting devotion and yoga directed to the one Supreme Lord.
