Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Description","entry_title":"Sahasra-āhuti vaśīkaraṇa; vastra-kāma puṣpa; darvā as vyādhi-vināśinī","lookup_keywords":["sahasra āhuti","vaśīkaraṇa","vastra-kāma","puṣpa homa","darvā vyādhi-vināśinī"],"quick_summary":"A thousand oblations are said to bring even a king under influence; flowers are offered for obtaining garments; and darvā grass is praised as disease-destroying—linking ritual repetition, desire-rites, and a medicinal plant note."}
Concept: Saṅkhyā-bala (power of repetition) in ritual: numerical completion (sahasra) is presented as a force-multiplier; dravya selection (flowers, darvā) channels intent toward specific results.
Application: In homa traditions, maintain count discipline (japa/āhuti-saṅkhyā) and consistent materials; for health-oriented rites, incorporate darvā as prescribed within the ritual frame.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 259 (kāmya/vaśīkaraṇa and āgneya-cikitsā notes)
It teaches substance-specific homa-phala: repeating oblations up to a thousand times for a stated influence-result, offering flowers for obtaining garments/prosperity, and using darvā (dūrvā) as a disease-removing ritual/medicinal adjunct.
It compresses multiple domains into a single instruction—ritual technology (homa count and materials), prosperity rites (vastra-prāpti), political efficacy (vaśīkaraṇa-like influence over a ruler), and health/therapeutics (vyādhi-nāśa with darvā).
The verse frames disciplined, repeated oblation with prescribed materials as a karma-producing act (phala-hetu), linking ritual purity and correct means (dravya, saṅkhyā) to worldly attainments and the alleviation of suffering (disease).
