FAQs

It teaches a śānti–rakṣā (protective) formulation: a six-ingredient mixture (śaḍaṅga) intended for drinking to counter nightmares and related disturbances.

Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves applied knowledge—here, an ayurvedic/ritual remedy (bhaiṣajya + śānti-prayoga) aimed at psycho-spiritual afflictions like duḥsvapna, showing its wide-ranging practical scope.

The sixfold drink functions as a purifier and protector (rakṣā), aiming to remove inauspicious influences reflected as bad dreams and thereby restore auspiciousness (śānti) and ritual-mental cleanliness.
