FAQs

It teaches the core homa method: oblations are to be poured while mantras are recited, and the offering becomes efficacious when ‘mantra-purified’ (mantra-pūta), leading to devatā-tarpaṇa (propitiation of the gods).

Alongside theology, the Agni Purāṇa preserves practical ritual procedure—how mantra and havis function together as a technical sacrificial operation—showing its coverage of applied liturgy (pujā/yajña-vidhi) as a knowledge-system.

Mantra-consecrated offerings are described as purifying for all beings and as a means to satisfy the devas, implying merit (puṇya), cleansing of impurity, and harmony between human ritual action and divine sustenance.
