Narrator (contextual Purāṇic narrator within Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra (Devī-sthāna)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Varānanā (addressed)
Scene: A devotee, fasting on Āśvayuja-śukla-navamī, approaches Devī in Prabhāsa at dawn; as the sun rises, darkness dissolves—mirroring the devotee’s sins vanishing through darśana.
Disciplined devotion—fasting joined with darśana—purifies the devotee, dissolving sin as surely as sunrise removes darkness.
Prabhāsakṣetra, where the Goddess’ darśana on Āśvayuja Śukla Navamī is said to grant powerful purification.
Observe upavāsa (fasting) and take Devī’s darśana on the 9th lunar day (Navamī) of the bright fortnight in Āśvayuja.
