स तथा संवृतो धीमान्मृत्पिंड इव सर्वतः । तप्यते स्म तपो घोरं वल्मीकेन समावृतः
sa tathā saṃvṛto dhīmānmṛtpiṃḍa iva sarvataḥ | tapyate sma tapo ghoraṃ valmīkena samāvṛtaḥ
ವಲ್ಮೀಕದಿಂದ ಆವೃತನಾದ ಆ ಧೀಮಂತನು ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆಯಿಂದ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಗುಡ್ಡೆಯಂತೆ ಮುಚ್ಚಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು; ಆದರೂ ಭೀಕರ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದನು।
