īśvara uvāca | tato gacchenmahādevi miśratīrthamanuttamam | trisaṃgameti vikhyātaṃ sauraṃ tīrthamanuttamam
Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Miśra-tīrtha (Trisaṅgama)
Type: sangam
Listener: Mahādevī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Śiva (Īśvara) instructs Devī on a coastal pilgrimage route; in the distance a luminous confluence where river currents meet the sea; a subtle solar disc motif indicating Sūrya-tīrtha.
Pilgrimage is guided by scriptural instruction: one should seek out supremely sanctifying places, especially famed confluences, as part of dharmic travel.
Miśratīrtha, also called Trisaṅgama, in Prabhāsa-kṣetra.
A direct injunction to ‘go’ (gacchet) to the tīrtha—i.e., undertake pilgrimage to Trisaṅgama/Miśratīrtha.
