विद्यामदो धनमदस्तृतीयोऽभिजनो मदः । एते मदा मदांधानामेत एव सतां दमाः

ವಿದ್ಯಾಮದ, ಧನಮದ, ಮೂರನೆಯದು ಅಭಿಜನಮದ—ಇವು ಮದಾಂಧರನ್ನು ಅಂಧರನ್ನಾಗಿಸುವ ಮత్తುಗಳು. ಆದರೆ ಸಜ್ಜನರಿಗೆ ಇವೇ ದಮನದ ಸಾಧನಗಳಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.
