बर्बरीकशिरश्चैव गिरिशृंगमवाप्य तत् । देहस्य भूमिसंस्काराश्चाभवच्छिरसो नहि । ततो युद्धं महदभूत्कुरुपांडवसेनयोः
barbarīkaśiraścaiva giriśṛṃgamavāpya tat | dehasya bhūmisaṃskārāścābhavacchiraso nahi | tato yuddhaṃ mahadabhūtkurupāṃḍavasenayoḥ
ಬರ್ಬರೀಕನ ಶಿರಸ್ಸು ಆ ಗಿರಿಶೃಂಗವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿತು. ಅವನ ದೇಹಕ್ಕೆ ಭೂಮಿಸಂಸ್ಕಾರಗಳು (ಅಂತ್ಯಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳು) ನೆರವೇರಿದವು; ಆದರೆ ಶಿರಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ನಂತರ ಕುರು‑ಪಾಂಡವ ಸೇನೆಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಮಹಾಯುದ್ಧ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.
