Suhṛdaya
Type: kund
Scene: A pilgrim approaches a sacred lake set at a distance; he pauses at the bank, washes his feet outside, then prepares to enter with folded hands.
Sacred practice is governed by ordered procedure; purity begins with humble preliminaries like washing the feet.
No specific lake is named; the verse gives a general rule used in tīrtha/temple-water contexts.
A distance-based allowance (beyond 100 hastas) and a procedural rule: wash the feet first while outside.
