इति ते कथिता संख्या अर्थं चैषां श्रृणु द्विज । अस्मिन्नर्थे चेति हासं तव वक्ष्यामि यः पुरा
iti te kathitā saṃkhyā arthaṃ caiṣāṃ śrṛṇu dvija | asminnarthe ceti hāsaṃ tava vakṣyāmi yaḥ purā
ಇಂತೆ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅವರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆನು; ಈಗ ಹೇ ದ್ವಿಜ, ಅವರ ತಾತ್ಪರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ಇದೇ ಅರ್ಥದ ಕುರಿತು, ಹಿಂದೆ ನಗುವಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾದ ಉಪದೇಶಮಯ ಪುರಾಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳುವೆನು.
