उग्रश्रवा उवाच । श्रृणुध्वचत्यद्भुतपुण्यसत्कथं कुमारनाथस्य महाप्रभावम् । द्वैपायनो यन्मम चाह पूर्वं हर्षाबुरोमोद्गमचर्चितांगः
ugraśravā uvāca | śrṛṇudhvacatyadbhutapuṇyasatkathaṃ kumāranāthasya mahāprabhāvam | dvaipāyano yanmama cāha pūrvaṃ harṣāburomodgamacarcitāṃgaḥ
ಉಗ್ರಶ್ರವಾ (ಸೂತ) ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಕುಮಾರನಾಥನ ಮಹಾಪ್ರಭಾವವನ್ನು ಸಾರುವ ಈ ಅದ್ಭುತ, ಪುಣ್ಯಮಯ, ಸತ್ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ. ಹಿಂದೆ ದ್ವೈಪಾಯನ (ವ್ಯಾಸ) ಇದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು; ಆಗ ನನ್ನ ದೇಹವೆಲ್ಲ ಹರ್ಷರೋಮಾಂಚದಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿತವಾಗಿತ್ತು।
