ब्रह्मोवाच । त्वयि राज्यं प्रकुर्वाणे देवो वृष्टिं विधास्यति । पापनिष्ठे च वै राज्ञि न देवो वर्षते पुनः
brahmovāca | tvayi rājyaṃ prakurvāṇe devo vṛṣṭiṃ vidhāsyati | pāpaniṣṭhe ca vai rājñi na devo varṣate punaḥ
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು— ನೀನು ರಾಜಧರ್ಮದಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡರೆ ದೇವನು (ವರ್ಷಾದೇವ) ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸುವನು; ಆದರೆ ಪಾಪನಿಷ್ಠ ರಾಜನಿದ್ದರೆ ದೇವನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಳೆ ಸುರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ।
