कर्मणा येन केशाः स्युः स्निग्धाः कुसुमवर्षिणः । नाकारि कर्णवेधोस्य जनित्रा समये शुभे
karmaṇā yena keśāḥ syuḥ snigdhāḥ kusumavarṣiṇaḥ | nākāri karṇavedhosya janitrā samaye śubhe
ಯಾವ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಕೂದಲು ಸ್ನಿಗ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಕుసುಮವರ್ಷಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ (ಶುಭಶೋಭೆ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ) ಆಗುವುದೋ, ಆ ಬಾಲಕನ ಕರ್ಣವೇಧವನ್ನೂ ಪೋಷಕರು ಶುಭ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ।
