lakṣakoṭisahasrāṇi lakṣakoṭiśatānyapi | suvarṇāni dadau kṛṣṇo dharmaputrāya yādavaḥ
Narrator (Purāṇic narrator, likely Sūta-style narration) (deduced)
Scene: Kṛṣṇa bestows immense quantities of gold upon Yudhiṣṭhira; heaps of gold, orderly accountants, grateful courtiers; Kṛṣṇa calm and luminous, Yudhiṣṭhira composed and dharmic.
The highest giving (dāna) is portrayed as that which empowers dharma—supporting sacred rites and righteous governance.
The Setu-kṣetra (Setukhaṇḍa) narrative context continues; this verse emphasizes Kṛṣṇa’s patronage rather than a named tirtha.
Dāna (generous gifting of gold) is exemplified as support for Dharmaputra’s major sacrificial undertaking.
