Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Devatīrtha
Type: kshetra
Listener: Yudhiṣṭhira (implied by subsequent verses)
Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya points out Devatīrtha on the Revā’s bank; pilgrims approach a Viṣṇu shrine where Śrīpati stands with Lakṣmī, the river shimmering beside them; the atmosphere conveys immediate purification through sight.
Darśana (reverent beholding) of the deity at a praised tīrtha is itself a potent purifier, removing pāpa.
Devatīrtha, where Śrīpati is worshipped/seen, is declared ‘anuttama’ (unsurpassed).
Darśana of Śrīpati at Devatīrtha—presented as a simple yet efficacious act.
