श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । आदौ कृतयुगे तात देवदेवो महेश्वरः । तपश्चचार विपुलं गङ्गासागरसंस्थितः

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | ādau kṛtayuge tāta devadevo maheśvaraḥ | tapaścacāra vipulaṃ gaṅgāsāgarasaṃsthitaḥ

ಶ್ರೀ ಮಾರ್ಕಂಡೇಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ತಾತಾ! ಕೃತಯುಗದ ಆದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವದೇವ ಮಹೇಶ್ವರನು ಗಂಗಾಸಾಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿ ಮಹತ್ತಾದ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಿದನು।
