तटप्रायातिविषमैः पर्वतैर्वृक्षसंकुलैः । प्रतप्तांगारयुक्तेन यांति मार्गेण दुःखिताः
taṭaprāyātiviṣamaiḥ parvatairvṛkṣasaṃkulaiḥ | prataptāṃgārayuktena yāṃti mārgeṇa duḥkhitāḥ
ದುಃಖದಿಂದ ಪೀಡಿತರಾಗಿ ಅವರು ನಿಂತ ತಟಗಳ ಸಮೀಪ ಅತಿವಿಷಮವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುವ, ಅಸಮ ಪರ್ವತಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ದಟ್ಟ ವೃಕ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುವ, ಸುಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅಂಗಾರಗಳಿಂದ ಆವೃತವಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ।

Significance: Reinforces the Siddhānta diagnosis: the bound soul traverses a ‘cliff-edge’ existence under karma and māyā; pilgrimage/bhakti is framed as seeking stable ground in Śiva.
The verse highlights that the devotee’s journey—outer pilgrimage and inner sādhanā—can be harsh, yet enduring hardship with steadiness becomes tapas that purifies the pashu (bound soul) and turns the mind toward Pati (Shiva).
It frames Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva-bhakti as a committed path: even when the physical route is painful, the devotee continues, showing niṣṭhā (firm devotion) toward Shiva as the accessible Lord who grants grace beyond worldly obstacles.
The practical takeaway is perseverance in japa—especially the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—and maintaining vrata-like discipline; mentally offering fatigue and fear into Shiva’s presence as an inner homa of endurance.
