It shows the inevitable retreat of adharma when divine power (Śiva’s Śakti) prevails—egoic force collapses, and hostile tendencies seek shelter elsewhere, affirming the supremacy of Dharma under Pati’s governance.
Though the verse is narrative, its Shaiva import is that Śiva’s Saguna expression as Śakti protects the cosmos; Linga-worship aligns the devotee with that protective, order-restoring power that subdues inner ‘Daityas’ (anger, pride, delusion).
A practical takeaway is protective japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with steady bhakti, viewing the ‘Daityas’ as inner obstacles that must be overcome through devotion and discipline.
