Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Jyotirlinga: Somanatha
Sthala Purana: The mention of Soma-vrata naturally evokes Soma’s Śiva-upāsanā and restoration (Soma’s waning/curse relieved by Śiva), a classic Somnātha-māhātmya theme; here, the vrata is presented as a conduit for saubhāgya through Śiva’s grace.
Significance: Somnātha is famed for granting auspiciousness, relief from afflictions, and strengthening of dharma; Soma-vrata observance is linked with marital well-being and prosperity under Śiva’s anugraha.
Mantra: नमः शिवाय
Type: panchakshara
Shakti Form: Parvati
Role: nurturing
Offering: naivedya
The verse highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace) as the decisive cause of auspicious flourishing—when devotion is expressed through disciplined vrata, the devotee becomes fit to receive Śiva’s blessing.
The emphasis on Śiva’s “anugraha” aligns with Saguna Śiva worship (including Liṅga-upāsanā), where devoted observance and ritual fidelity culminate in the Lord’s tangible bestowal of blessings in life and dharma.
It points to vrata-sādhana—steadfast vow-observance (like Soma-vrata) supported by Śiva-bhakti; practically, devotees may pair such observance with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and regular Śiva-pūjā according to capacity.
