Upamanyu’s Instruction
स च तक्षालयं गत्वा तन्मैत्रीं प्राप्य सुव्रतः । आयातः स्वगृहं प्रीतो नानाधनसमन्वितः
sa ca takṣālayaṃ gatvā tanmaitrīṃ prāpya suvrataḥ | āyātaḥ svagṛhaṃ prīto nānādhanasamanvitaḥ
ಆ ಸುವ್ರತನು ತಕ್ಷಶಾಲೆಗೆ (ಬಡಗಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರಕ್ಕೆ) ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, ನಾನಾವಿಧ ಧನಸಂಪತ್ತಿನಿಂದ ಯುಕ್ತನಾಗಿ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿದನು।

The verse highlights how disciplined conduct (suvrata) and right association (maitrī) can become instruments of dharma, leading to orderly worldly well-being—supportive, in Shaiva Siddhanta, of a life oriented toward Shiva’s grace rather than mere indulgence.
Though the verse is narrative and not directly about the Linga, it frames prosperity as arising through dharmic action and good companionship—conditions that traditionally sustain regular Saguna Shiva worship (puja, offerings, temple duties) without bondage to greed.
The implied practice is vrata-like discipline (suvrata)—living with restraint and purity—supporting steady japa (e.g., the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and daily Shaiva observances such as bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and mindful conduct.
