Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Mantra: śivaṃ smara punaḥpunaḥ
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It teaches śaraṇāgati (surrender): seeing all events as Śiva’s will loosens anxiety and ego, while repeated remembrance (smaraṇa) steadies devotion and turns the mind toward liberation.
It supports Saguna upāsanā by prescribing continual remembrance of Śiva; devotees can anchor this smaraṇa through Linga-darśana, pūjā, and heartfelt acceptance that all outcomes arise from Śiva’s divine governance (niyati).
Practice constant japa and smaraṇa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—while cultivating the inner attitude: “This has happened by Śiva’s will,” optionally alongside bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as aids to remembrance.
