Bāṇāsura’s Wrathful Command and the Onset of Battle at the Inner Palace

Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
The verse portrays the surge of rājasic aggression in conflict—an outer battle that, in Shaiva reflection, mirrors the inner siege of the mind by anger and violence; it implicitly invites the devotee to seek Śiva as the stabilizing Lord (Pati) who grants mastery over such impulses.
Though the verse is narrative and martial, it contrasts worldly force with the devotee’s refuge in Saguna Śiva (worshiped as the Liṅga), where protection and victory are sought through devotion and dharma rather than mere destruction.
No explicit ritual is prescribed in this line; as a practical takeaway, one may steady the mind with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and cultivate śānti (calm) before action, transforming impulsive aggression into disciplined, dharmic resolve.
