Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon marker concluding the chapter narration to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
This is a concluding colophon that seals the chapter’s authority and context, emphasizing that the narrative of Śaṃkhacūḍa’s fall is framed by Śiva’s upadeśa—teaching that liberation comes through alignment with Śiva (Pati) rather than egoic power.
By naming the chapter “Śivopadeśa,” it points devotees to Śiva’s accessible, saguna guidance within Purāṇic history—where devotion, surrender, and right conduct are taught in the midst of dramatic events like battle and divine intervention.
While this colophon itself does not prescribe a specific rite, the chapter title “Śivopadeśa” traditionally directs the listener toward Śiva-centered sādhana such as japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined devotional remembrance.
