Concise Teaching on Liṅga Worship / Śiva-arcana-vidhi
teṣu teṣu ca sarveṣu kṣipettoyaṃ suśītalam | praṇavena kṣipetteṣu dravyāṇyālokya buddhimān
Sūta Gosvāmī
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra:
It teaches that outer ritual preparation must be joined with inner sanctification: the materials are purified with cool water, and consciousness is aligned to Śiva through the Praṇava (Om), making the worship fit for divine presence.
Before offering to the Śiva-liṅga (Saguna worship), the devotee consecrates the offerings by sprinkling water while invoking Om, indicating that the act is not merely physical but a mantra-charged offering to Śiva.
A simple saṅkalpa-like purification: inspect the puja items, sprinkle them with cool water while mentally or softly chanting “Om” (Praṇava), treating the act as consecration before Śiva worship.
