Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
The verse highlights Shiva as Pati—the supreme Lord and protector—who can withdraw “lordship” from a realm when adharma prevails, reaffirming that cosmic order is upheld by divine governance rather than mere worldly power.
It reflects Saguna Shiva’s active role as ruler and protector of the worlds; Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana centers on surrendering to this sovereign Pati whose grace protects devotees and whose will removes obstructive forces to dharma.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate śaraṇāgati (surrender) through japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—seeking Shiva’s protection and inner governance over the mind’s ‘realm,’ along with simple devotion such as offering water to the Linga.
