मा नो अग्ने सख्या पित्र्याणि प्र मर्षिष्ठा अभि विदुष्कविः सन् । नभो न रूपं जरिमा मिनाति पुरा तस्या अभिशस्तेरधीहि ॥
mā́ no agne sakhyā́ pitryā́ṇi prá marṣiṣṭhā abhí vidúṣ kavíḥ sán | nábho ná rūpáṃ jarimā́ mināti purā́ tasyā abhíśaster ádhīhi ||
ಓ ಅಗ್ನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಪಾರಂಪರ್ಯ ಸಖ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಡ; ತಿಳಿದ ಕವಿ-ದೃಷ್ಟನಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಡೆ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಜಾಗರೂಕನಾಗಿರು. ಆಕಾಶದ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಜರೆಯು ಹೇಗೆ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯಾವ ಕ್ಷಯವೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕುಗ್ಗಿಸದಿರಲಿ; ಶತ್ರುವಾಣಿಯ ಆಕ್ರಮಣದ ಮುಂಚೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತು ಕಾಪಾಡು.
