Dialogue with Guha: Account of Rama’s Night Halt
ताश्च तं पतितं भूमौ रुदन्त्यः पर्यवारयन्।कौसल्या त्वनुसृत्यैनं दुर्मनाः परिषस्वजे।।।।
tāś ca taṃ patitaṃ bhūmau rudantyaḥ paryavārayan |
kausalyā tv anusṛtyainaṃ durmanāḥ pariṣasvaje ||
ಅವನು ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವರು ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತುವರಿದರು; ಕೌಸಲ್ಯಾ ದುಃಖಭರಿತ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಭರತನನ್ನು ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಳು.
Sobbing, they gathered around Bharata who had fallen on the ground, while Kausalya approached him in a depressed state and took him into her arms.
Dharma is care in crisis: grief does not cancel duty; it calls forth compassion, protection, and presence around the vulnerable.
Bharata has fallen; the queens weep and encircle him, while Kausalyā personally embraces him.
Kausalyā’s motherly compassion—she responds not with accusation but with embrace, sustaining family unity amid tragedy.
