Adhyaya 2 — The Lineage of Garuda and the Birth of the Wise Birds: Kanka and Kandhara

Sanskrit

अन्ये तपस्याभिरता नीताः प्रेतनृपानुगैः ।

योगाभ्यासे रताश्चान्ये नैव प्रापुरमृत्युताम् ॥

Transliteration

anye tapasyābhiratā nītāḥ pretanṛpānugaiḥ | yogābhyāse ratāś cānye naiva prāpur amṛtyutām ||

Translation

ಕೆಲವರು ತಪಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಷ್ಠರಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಪ್ರೇತರಾಜನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರೆದೊಯ್ದರು; ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವರು ಯೋಗಾಭ್ಯಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಲೀನರಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅಮರತ್ವವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ।
