Adhyaya 19 — Dama's Teaching
पादसंवाहनाद्येन मध्वाद्याहरणेन च ।
स्रक्चन्दनादिगन्धाम्बुफलाद्यनयनेन च ॥
pādasaṃvāhanādyena madhv-ādyāharaṇena ca / strakcandanādigaṅdhāmbu-phalādy-anayanena ca
ಪಾದಸಂವಾಹನ ಮುಂತಾದ ಸೇವೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ, ಜೇನು ಮೊದಲಾದ ಉಪಹಾರಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದು, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಹಾರಗಳು, ಚಂದನ, ಸುಗಂಧ ದ್ರವ್ಯ, ನೀರು, ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದು—ಅವನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪರಿಚರಿಸಿದನು।
True reverence is enacted through concrete service and thoughtful offerings; devotion is operationalized as care, not merely praise.
Not cosmological; it is dharma-illustrative narrative embedded within royal genealogy-style storytelling (vaṃśānucarita context).
The listed offerings also map to purification of senses and ego: touch (feet service), taste (honey), smell (fragrance), sight (garlands), and sustenance (fruit/water)—a totalizing surrender of personal comfort to the guru-principle.
