na sahasaiva mahārāja devān sarvān pramohayat | jajvāla khaṃ sanakṣatraṃ pramūḍhaṃ bhuvanaṃ bhūśam ||
ಮಾರ್ಕಂಡೇಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ಮಹಾರಾಜ, ಅದು ಕೇವಲ ಕ್ಷಣಮಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮೋಹಗೊಳಿಸಿದಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ; ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿತವಾದ ಆಕಾಶವೇ ಜ್ವಲಿಸಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಓ ಭೂಪತೇ, ಆ ಅಚಾನಕ್ ಭಯಾನಕ ಉಪದ್ರವದಿಂದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಲೋಕವು ಮೂರ್ತಿಹೋದಂತೆ, ಸ್ಥಬ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮೂಢವಾಯಿತು.
