Educational Q&A

Ungrudging hospitality—especially feeding a weary, lost stranger on the road—is a major duty of the householder and yields great merit (puṇya).

Yudhiṣṭhira states a dharma-principle: the act of giving food to an unknown, fatigued traveler during one’s journey is praised as highly meritorious.
