अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
ಕಥಾವಾಚನವು ಅತಿಯಾಗಿ ತಡವಾಗಿಯೂ ಆಗಬಾರದು, ಅತಿವೇಗವಾಗಿಯೂ ಆಗಬಾರದು. ಅದು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ, ಧೀರವಾಗಿ, ಓಜಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಸಾಗಬೇಕು; ಅಕ್ಷರಪದಗಳು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಬೆರೆತುಹೋಗದೆ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ಉಚ್ಚಾರವಾಗಬೇಕು; ಸ್ವರ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾವ ಸಮನ್ವಯವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು— ಆಗ ಅರ್ಥ ಮಧುರವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
