ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana
River-of-Saṃsāra Metaphor
न चेदमचलं स्थानमनन्तं वापि कस्यचित् । त्वं तु बालिशया बुद्धया ममेदमिति मन््यसे
na cedam acalaṁ sthānam anantaṁ vāpi kasyacit | tvaṁ tu bāliśayā buddhyā mamedam iti manyase ||
ಈ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಅಚಲವಲ್ಲ, ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಅನಂತಕಾಲ ಉಳಿಯುವುದೂ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ನೀನು ಬಾಲಿಶವಾದ ಮೋಹಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿಂದ ‘ಇದು ನನ್ನದು’ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೀಯ. ಇಂದ್ರಪದವೂ ಶಾಶ್ವತವೆಂದು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಸಾಬೀತಾಗಿಲ್ಲ—ಅನೇಕರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ ತೆರಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ಸ್ವತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಅಂಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ; ಅದರ ಅನಿತ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದು ಧರ್ಮದಿಂದಲೂ ವಿನಯದಿಂದಲೂ ನಡೆ.
