The verse foregrounds truthful narration (yathāvṛtta—“as it actually happened”) and reverent attention to a warrior’s conduct. Ethically, it emphasizes that accounts of war should be heard and transmitted with fidelity, honoring valor while seeking an accurate understanding of actions and their consequences.
Sañjaya expresses a desire to recount (or to have recounted) the detailed events of Abhimanyu’s fighting—highlighting Abhimanyu’s heroic physical traits and signaling that a significant, likely poignant episode of the battle is about to be narrated.
