यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं

ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನು ಆ ಎರಡು ಕುಂಡಲಗಳನ್ನು ಜಿಂಕೆಯ ಚರ್ಮದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಕೇವಲ ಲತೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇತ್ತು; ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದ ಲತೆಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅವನು ಗಮನಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದ ಲತೆಗಳ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಆ ಎರಡು ಕುಂಡಲಗಳು ಕಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಅದೇ ಜಿಂಕೆಯ ಚರ್ಮದ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಬಿದ್ದವು.
