Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
निश्चित्य मनसा सर्व गुणदोषबलाबलम् | दग्धुकाम: कुलं सर्व कुशिकानां तपोधन:
niścitya manasā sarva-guṇa-doṣa-balābalam | dagdhukāmaḥ kulaṃ sarvaṃ kuśikānāṃ tapodhanaḥ |
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ಭೃಗುಪುತ್ರ ಚ್ಯವನನು, ಕುಶಿಕವಂಶದ ಕನ್ಯೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ವೈವಾಹಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾದರೆ ತನ್ನ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಷಾತ್ರತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹಾದೋಷ ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದನು. ಆದಕಾರಣ ಆ ತಪೋಧನ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ಗುಣ-ದೋಷಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಬಲ-ಅಬಲಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೂಗಿ ದೃಢನಿಶ್ಚಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಕುಶಿಕರ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕುಲವನ್ನು ಭಸ್ಮಮಾಡುವ ಇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಕುಶಿಕ ರಾಜನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
