Dāyavibhāga (Inheritance Apportionment) and Household Precedence — Dialogue of Yudhiṣṭhira and Bhīṣma
देवदत्तां पतिर्भा्या वेत्ति धर्मस्य शासनात् । स दैवीं मानुषी वाचमनृतां पर्युदस्यति
devadattāṁ patir bhāryāṁ vetti dharmasya śāsanāt | sa daivīṁ mānuṣīṁ vācam anṛtāṁ paryudasyati ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ವಿಧಾನದಂತೆ ನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನಿಗೆ ದೊರೆತ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು ಪತಿ ದೇವದತ್ತೆಯಂತೆ ತನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದಕಾರಣ ಅವಳನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಪ್ರದತ್ತವೆಂದು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ, ಆ ವಿವಾಹ ಅಯೋಗ್ಯವೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಳ್ಳಿಹಾಕುತ್ತಾನೆ.
