आगतानागते चोभे ब्राह्मणो द्विपदं वर: । ब्राह्मणो भरतश्रेष्ठ स्वरधर्म चैव वेद यः:

Transliteration

āgatānāgate cobhe brāhmaṇo dvipadaṃ varaḥ | brāhmaṇo bharataśreṣṭha svadharmaṃ caiva veda yaḥ ||

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನು ದ್ವಿಪದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನು; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಭೂತ ಮತ್ತು ಅನಾಗತ—ಎರಡನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಓ ಭರತಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ, ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಯಥಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದು ಅದನ್ನೇ ಆಚರಿಸುವವನೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನು.
