Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas
कक्षसेनश्न् राजर्षिवेसिष्ठाय महात्मने । न्यासं यथावत् संन््यस्थ जगाम सुमहायशा:,महायशस्वी राजर्षि कक्षसेन महात्मा वसिष्ठको अपना सर्वस्व समर्पण करके स्वर्गलोकमें गये हैं
Kakṣasenāś ca rājarṣir Vasiṣṭhāya mahātmane | nyāsaṃ yathāvat saṃnyasya jagāma sumahāyaśāḥ ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಅತಿಮಹಾಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾದ ರಾಜರ್ಷಿ ಕಕ್ಷಸೇನನು ಯಥಾವಿಧಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ವಸಿಷ್ಠನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಸರ್ವಸ್ವವನ್ನು ನ್ಯಾಸವಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ, ಸ್ವರ್ಗಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿದನು।
भीष्म उवाच
Renunciation should be done responsibly and in accordance with dharma: one should duly transfer wealth and obligations (nyāsa) to a worthy custodian (here, Vasiṣṭha) rather than abandoning them improperly. Such orderly, ethical relinquishment supports spiritual merit and a noble end.
Bhīṣma cites the example of the rājarṣi Kakṣasena: he formally entrusted his possessions/charge to the sage Vasiṣṭha, renounced his worldly ties, and then departed for Svarga, celebrated for his great fame.
