Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
It links bodily discipline (naktabhojana as a vrata) with a concrete merit (attaining Yakṣa-loka), implying that regulated living supports purity and steadiness required for Śiva-bhakti and Linga-centered worship.
Though Śiva is not named in the line, the verse functions within a Shaiva merit-framework where Pati (Śiva) is the ultimate dispenser of fruits and the one who can relax pāśa (bondage) for the pashu through disciplined devotion.
Naktabhojana—eating only at night—performed as a vrata in Āśvayuja, a tapas-like restraint that supports sense-control and devotional focus aligned with Shaiva observance.
