Suta Goswami (narrating the cosmological doctrine as taught in the Purana)
It frames creation as proceeding from ahaṃkāra and the guṇas; in Linga worship, the devotee turns from this guṇa-born outward evolution back toward the Linga as Pati—Shiva beyond guṇas—thus loosening pasha (bondage).
By describing sāttvika creation as a product of ahaṃkāra, it implicitly contrasts Shiva-tattva as the transcendent Pati who is not produced by ahaṃkāra or guṇas, but is the ground enabling their operation and their dissolution.
Ahaṃkāra-kṣaya (attenuation of egoity) is implied: in Pāśupata-oriented practice, one offers the sense of “I” into the Linga through japa, dhyāna, and inner renunciation, recognizing the guṇa-sarga as contingent and Shiva as the liberating Pati.
