Chapter 381 —
Yama-gītā
na satpadamavāpnoti saṃsārañcādhigacchati yastu vijñānavān bhavati yuktena manasā sadā
Lord Agni (teaching sage Vasiṣṭha in the Agni Purāṇa’s instructional dialogue style)

Concept: Viveka (vijñāna) must be paired with yuktatā of mind (steady yoking/discipline); otherwise saṃsāra persists despite conceptual understanding.
Application: Adopt a twofold regimen: (1) daily viveka-vicāra (self-inquiry), (2) mind-stabilizers—prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, and fixed meditation time to prevent relapse into habitual reactivity.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
Related Themes: Agni Purana 381.23 (avijñāna and unrestrained mind); Agni Purana 381.25 (vijñāna as charioteer with mind-reins)
It teaches Jñāna-yoga praxis: mere vijñāna (discriminative insight) is insufficient unless the mind is continually ‘yukta’—disciplined, integrated, and steadily applied toward the goal.
Alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and arts, the Agni Purāṇa also systematizes inner disciplines—linking philosophy (vijñāna) with applied psychology (manas-niyama) as a practical technology for liberation.
It warns that knowledge without sustained mental discipline fails to yield the highest good and instead perpetuates saṃsāra; steady mind-yoking is presented as essential for liberation-oriented merit and purification.
