FAQs

This verse imparts genealogical knowledge (vamsha-jnana): the succession of rulers in the Haihaya line, listing Dharmanetra and his successor Saṃhana.

By preserving structured dynastic succession data, it functions like a historical index—one of the Agni Purana’s encyclopedic strands alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and poetics.

Remembering and reciting righteous lineages is traditionally treated as punya-generating (merit-bearing), reinforcing dharma through exemplars of kingship and continuity of sacred history.
