निमित्तपरिभाषाभ्यामर्थसंस्पर्शिवाचकम् तद्भेदो पदवाक्ये द्वे कथितं लक्षणं द्वयोः
nimittaparibhāṣābhyāmarthasaṃsparśivācakam tadbhedo padavākye dve kathitaṃ lakṣaṇaṃ dvayoḥ
ನಿಮಿತ್ತ (ಕಾರಣಾಧಾರ) ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಭಾಷೆ (ಪ್ರಚಲಿತ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ)ಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ, ಸೂಚ್ಯವಸ್ತುವಿಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿಸಿ ತಿಳಿಸುವುದು ‘ಅರ್ಥಸಂಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿ ವಾಚಕ’. ಇದರ ಎರಡು ಭೇದಗಳು—ಪದ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಕ್ಯ; ಹೀಗೆ ಎರಡರ ಲಕ್ಷಣ ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
