Concept: Adhyātma-śuddhi as prerequisite for viveka: purify the layers of embodiment from gross to subtle to reveal the witnessing principle.

Application: Use a consistent sequence in practice (visualization, prāṇāyāma, nyāsa, or dhāraṇā): stabilize body/bhūtas, restrain and purify actions, then refine mind/intellect/ego and sensory essences.

Khanda Section: Yoga–Sankhya (Bhuta-śuddhi and Tattva-viveka / internal purification practice)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

It teaches a Bhūta-śuddhi–style inner purification sequence: after cleansing the gross elements, the practitioner purifies the organs of action and then the subtle constituents and inner instruments (buddhi, tanmātras, mind, cognition, ego).

Alongside rituals and dharma, the Agni Purana also preserves Yoga–Sāṅkhya technical psychology—mapping and purifying tattvas (elements, tanmātras, mind, intellect, ego), showing its wide scope as a compendium of practical and philosophical disciplines.

Purifying the elements and inner faculties reduces karmic conditioning and mental impurity, making meditation steadier and enabling clearer discernment beyond ego-driven identification.
