Pretāḥ
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Householders in the Prabhāsa-māhātmya frame
Scene: A disorderly house with leftover food scattered, family members quarreling, and no Vaiśvadeva offering; pretas sit contentedly consuming the subtle essence, while a neglected altar remains unlit.
Domestic purity and daily sacred offerings protect merit; disorder, quarrel, and neglect of Vaiśvadeva invite preta-association and loss of puṇya.
Prabhāsa Kṣetra; the māhātmya uses household-dharma to frame the sanctity expected around sacred geography and rites.
Maintain cleanliness (no perpetual leftovers), cultivate harmony, and perform Vaiśvadeva (daily offering) regularly.
