Tirtha: Varuṇeśvara
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahārāja / nṛpasattama (the king)
Scene: Sage Mārkaṇḍeya instructs a king to proceed to Varuṇeśvara; in the background, a Śiva-liṅga shrine near water, with Varuṇa depicted as a dignified deva having attained siddhi through worship.
Pilgrimage to a sanctified Śaiva site is presented as a dharmic step that connects the devotee with the perfected power of the deity and the tīrtha.
Varuṇeśvara, a revered Śiva-site associated with Varuṇa’s attainment of siddhi.
The instruction is to ‘go’ (gacchet) to Varuṇeśvara as a pilgrimage act; further rites are described in subsequent verses.
